Puffin Pinot Gris 2021/22

Tasting Notes

This straw-colored Pinot Gris leads with pleasing aromas of green apple, pear and white flowers.  Subtle aromas of apple blossoms, melon, and citrus follow and make this wine so inviting!

In the mouth, this wine is well-balanced and smooth from start to finish. Fruit flavors of apple, apricot, pear and citrus fruit allow the wine to linger on the finish.

Food Pairing

Serve well chilled. This Pinot Gris pairs nicely with a wide variety of foods, including Dungeness crab, cheese plates, salads, fish and crab cakes.  It also is a nice companion for a summer day at the beach or a sunny patio.

Product Notes

The fruit for this delicious Pinot Gris is sourced from two Southern Willamette Valley vineyard sites: Deer Haven Vineyard, located west of Corvallis, OR and Lush Vineyards, located in Monroe, OR.  Both of these vineyards are relatively flat with a slight southwest aspect and use VSP (vertical shoot positioning) trellising.

Winemaker

Puffin Pinot Gris is a collaboration with Ray Walsh, the Winemaker for Capitello Wines, located in Eugene, OR. Formerly the Winemaker at King Estate, Ray is known as Oregon’s “King of Pinot Gris”.  Ray’s wines have earned numerous Platinum, Double Gold, Gold and Best of Class awards at wine competitions across the Pacific Northwest.
